I used to think discipleship was about learning more.

More theology.
More leadership.
More ministry.
More answers.

The longer I follow Jesus, the more I realize it is about learning to see.

Jesus constantly opened people's eyes. He saw people others overlooked. He crossed boundaries others avoided. He noticed those on the margins and invited them to the center. He revealed that the Kingdom of God was already breaking into ordinary places if people had eyes to see.

That invitation has become the center of my own life and ministry.

My journey

For more than two decades I have had the privilege of serving the church in a variety of roles—as a pastor, church planter, denominational leader, author, speaker, and coach. Each role has taught me something different about God, leadership, and the church.

Some of my greatest teachers have not been found in classrooms or conference stages. They have been immigrant pastors navigating unfamiliar systems, church planters creating new expressions of faith, congregations wrestling with change, and leaders courageous enough to admit they didn't have all the answers.

Those experiences reshaped how I understand leadership. I no longer believe leadership is primarily about having better answers. I believe it begins by asking better questions, listening more deeply, and helping others discover what God is already doing.

Why I Write

Writing is one way I continue learning.

Every article, every chapter, and every reflection begin with a question I am still exploring. Through my Substack and books, I invite readers into conversations about hospitality, belonging, leadership, healing, and the future of the church—not because I have arrived, but because I believe we learn best when we journey together.

My first book, Rediscovering Vitality, grew out of years spent walking alongside congregations searching for renewed purpose. It challenged churches to move beyond maintaining institutions toward joining God's mission in their communities. My current writing continues that journey by asking an even deeper question: before churches change what they do, how might they learn to see differently?

Why I Listen

One of the greatest gifts of my ministry has been the opportunity to sit across tables from remarkable people.

The Belonging, Becoming, Beloved Podcast was born from a simple conviction: wisdom is discovered in conversation. Every episode brings together pastors, innovators, theologians, and practitioners whose stories invite us to notice something we may have overlooked.

Rather than offering easy answers, these conversations encourage us to ask better questions, listen more carefully, and recognize where God is already at work.

Why I Work with Churches

Every congregation has a story.

Some are thriving.

Others feel stuck.

Many simply know that their community has changed, but they're unsure how to respond.

My consulting and coaching are rooted in the same convictions that shape my writing and podcast. I work with churches, presbyteries, and leadership teams to help them rediscover their calling, cultivate belonging, navigate adaptive change, and imagine faithful next steps together.

I don't believe healthy change begins with a strategic plan.

I believe it begins by learning to see.

Seeing our neighbors.

Seeing our gifts.

Seeing our challenges honestly.

Seeing where God's Spirit is already moving.

Only then can we faithfully discern what comes next.
